The heat is on: seeking shade

For centuries, farmers in Algeria have been cultivating palm groves and fostering oases at the gateway to the Sahara. They continue to do so as droughts and pests become more frequent and difficult to control. Mr. Hamadi and his fellow farmers collaborate with scientists to find the right answers to climate change. Will they be fast enough? Photographer and ifa alumna Assia Korichi has documented their work and hopes over the past seven years. Here is a selection of her pictures. Assia is a graduate of the journalism training course "Photojournalism and Visual Storytelling" with trainer Sven Creutzmann, where the photo series was created.

Mike and his Sax

The Rosenthaler Platz underground station in Berlin is a jazz club, art gallery, and meeting place all in one. And that's because of one man with his saxophone and his stories. Photographer Istabraq  documented Maik and his sax with his camera.  Istabraq is a graduate of the journalism training course "Photojournalism and Visual Storytelling" with trainer Sven Creutzmann, where the photo series was created.
